WFAA NEWS 8 interviewed Dr. Harold C. Urschel III, chief medical strategist at Enterhealth, about the new initiatives President Obama announced Wednesday, July 6, 2016, to battle the epidemic of opiate abuse.
“In DFW, my guess is we’re probably looking at about 25,000 to 30,000 patients a year,” Dr. Urschel said. “A huge number not getting treatments.” The scarcity of treatment is because of a lack of insurance, and if there is insurance, it doesn’t yet cover the most effective new treatments.
